Afternoon Tea 14x15

The afternoon tea at John’s house is itself an occasion of Art. The antique porcelain cups in their saucers were discovered prizes of John's relentless pursuit of excellence for all things created with the utmost skill. The cucumber sandwiches and other morsels are arranged artfully on silver platters. The light and chatter flow gently in and out of the scene. It is a moment of poetry.

Can I capture this ? I ask myself. The light is deepening the tones of the velvet cushions. I see the sprinkled red light along the tarmac. The cool tones in the shadow create the airiness I feel on my skin. Now I paint my delight.
